Align Orthotics and Rehab Kingston, Ontario

We are happy to work with allied health professionals, personal trainers, specialized running shoe stores, running coaches etc. to ensure that the best strengthening and training methods are being used to treat and prevent injuries. After your 3D gait assessment, you will be provided with a detailed report that outlines areas of weakness or inflexibility.  You can bring this report back to your physiotherapist or appropriate health professional to help guide them in your treatment.

An example of this report can be seen below:

Diagram-1

Diagram 1: shown are scores out of 100 for each of the joint regions.  These numbers are reached from the scientific measures of several biomechanical gait variables collected and are compared to a large database.

Diagram 2

Diagram-2

Diagram 2: each individualized graph demonstrates the ranges of “excessive”, “ideal” and “reduced” motion at the ankle, knee and hip joints based on our normative database as well as functional measurements.

Running injuries happen most commonly at the knee, but this does not mean that the root of the problem is at the knee joint level.  Excessive “Time to Pk Pronation” values, for example, may cause the leg to stay internally rotated for a prolonged period of time which may place excessive strain on soft tissues around the knee.  In this case custom orthotics that support the medial arch and some calf and ankle inverter (e.g. tibialis posterior) muscle strengthening should reduce the excessive values and improve the relative timing between foot and leg rotation.
