A quick update on our gait re-training using real-time biofeedback study: Adam Clansey and Mac Graydon have been pilot testing the new system on subjects at Human Motion Research Lab at Hotel Dieu Hospital (Kevin Deluzio’s lab) and working with Shawn from C-Motion to iron out bugs and tweak the protocol. Things are moving along well, and we will be starting to test subjects for the study within weeks! Adam and Shawn (as well as other C-Motion team members) have such a vast knowledge of biomechanics and the software to measure it, and we’re really grateful to be able to work with them. Pre- and post-testing will be performed at HMRL so we can get force plate information from their instrumented treadmill, and the biofeedback interventions will happen at Align to show that this tool can be effective as a clinical tool in the rehabilitation of injured runners.

Here is a picture of the real-time biofeedback screen in its current iteration.
